Star Trek events: Thursday, December 17th - Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020
Not a whole lot of events to speak of this week, as many fans get ready for the Christmas holidays. But there are a few, so let’s get to it…
GalaxyCon Live: Chris Sarandon and Wallace Shawn - Saturday, December 19th & Sunday, December 20th
First up, on Saturday and Sunday, Chris Sarandon and Wallace Shawn are appearing as part of GalaxyCon Live’s Princess Bride Q&As. Both actors were guest stars on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
As per usual, you’ll need to register to attend the Q&As, but they are free. You can also upgrade to personalized autographs or one-on-one video chats and virtual photo ops. Head to galaxycon.com for more information.
It’s an Honorable Life: A Star Trek Fan Production - Sunday, December 30th
Then on Sunday, December 30th, The Historic Mounds Theatre out of St. Paul, Minnesota is putting on a virtual live reading of their original production, It’s an Honorable Life: A Star Trek Fan Production.
The plot synopsis reads: “A Klingon fears he is too great a warrior to die in battle and will instead die of old age. Q leads him on a journey through his life in this mixture of Star Trek and holiday classics. The show is presented primarily in Klingon with English titles.”
Tickets cost $6 and up, and you can find out more at moundstheatre.org.
Virtual Trek Con presents: 12 Days of CONtent - from Wednesday, December 23rd
Then looking forward to next week, Wednesday marks the start of Virtual Trek Con presents: 12 Days of CONtent, which stretches into January. They’re planning a mix of pre-recorded content from past Virtual Trek Cons, and live content new for this one, with the aim of giving Trek fans something fun to look forward to every day of the rest of the year.
You can find out more about the event at facebook.com/virtualtrekcon.
Daily Star Trek Views - Friday, December 18th
And of course, don’t forget to join me this Friday afternoon at 1pm PT for the live show Daily Star Trek Views on YouTube. I’m looking back at the week’s biggest stories, some stuff that didn’t make it into Daily Star Trek News, and also doing the quickest review ever of this week’s Star Trek: Discovery.
Subscribe now so you don’t miss it; head to youtube.com/dailystartreknews.
The regular stuff
Finally, since it’s a relatively quiet week, it’s worth reminding you that there are a few events that go on every week; if you haven’t joined in yet and you’re at a loose end, now would be a great time to do it.
These are the Twitter watchalongs:
#allstartrek runs Sunday through Friday at 8/7C and follows the Heroes and Icons Channel’s All Star Trek programme.
#TOSSatNight starts at 9pm PT on Saturday night and follows a different episode of the Original Series every week, and
#StarTrekHour is a Q&A-format event, every Tuesday at 1pm PT.
Then there’s Star Trek: Watch Party, hosted daily and coordinated on Facebook. Every evening, they use the Teleparty browser extension to watch Star Trek together. To find out more, head over to Star Trek: Watch Party on Facebook.
And finally, Sid City Social Club, hosted by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Alexander Siddig’s official fan website, is continuing their twice-weekly livestreams on Fridays and Tuesdays. To find out more, including how to join in, head to sidcity.net.
If you have an online event or gathering you’d like me to promote on the show, let me know! How are YOU getting together with your fellow Trekkies, without leaving the house?
