Star Trek: Picard-themed MetroCards

Following on from last week’s takeover of Piccadilly Circus Tube station in London, today Star Trek: Picard is taking over the New York subway.

A piece in the New York Post reports that for three weeks starting today, the new series will be promoted on special MetroCards available at selected stations in Manhattan. There will be two different card designs available: one featuring Picard on the front and the vineyards of Chateau Picard on the back, and one featuring Picard’s pitbull, No. 1, on the front and several planets on the back.

The special promotional MetroCards will be available at six MTA stations only, with the Picard cards sold in vending machines and the No. 1 cards being sold at station booths. The six stations are:

  • 14th Street & Seventh Avenue

  • 28th Street & Seventh Avenue

  • 57th Street & Sixth Avenue

  • 42nd Street & Fifth Avenue

  • 14th Street at Union Square

  • 28th Street & Broadway

Plotted on a subway map, the six stations form the outline of a Starfleet delta insignia.

In addition to the cards, the stations themselves will also be branded with promotional signage, so definitely worth a trip if you can get there. While you’re in Manhattan, you can also check out the Star Trek: Picard pop-up experience due to take place later today in Times Square. Between 10 am and 8 pm eastern, a team of “brand ambassadors” will be handing out Star Trek: Picard posters to fans who take selfies with their giant Starfleet Delta and post the pictures on social media with the hashtag #PicardDelta. If you can’t be there yourself, then at least be sure to check out the hashtag for all the great selfies.

Once again, if you’re in the New York metro area, then be sure to get your hands on a Picard promotional MetroCard. They’ll be available for three weeks, starting today.
