NOVEMBER 28, 2022 - Back in October, we reported from New York Comic Con on the revelations and trailer for the upcoming season five of Star Trek: Discovery. Before the Thanksgiving break, TrekMovie summarized the announcements that production on the new season had wrapped.

In season five, according to the official synopsis, Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncover a mystery that sends them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well … dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.

Visual effects supervisor Fausto Tajeda said the new season’s production was a “wild, productive, and innovative journey.” Showrunner Michelle Paradise followed up, calling season five the “most ambitious yet,” while Wilson Cruz asked, “Are you ready? You’re not ready. It’s that good.”

Now it is on to post production, while we await the debut next year, which does not yet have a date. In the meantime, you can see more about season five of Star Trek: Discovery at TrekMovie, including details on the new characters, and catch up on seasons one to four, streaming now on Paramount+ and available on disc from Amazon.
