MEME REVIEW MONDAY: Sleepy Data, Doctor Gowron, and Seamstress Picard
Hello! Happy Meme Review Monday! I don’t know about you but last week felt super long for me and I’ve just been itching to get to another meme review. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.
First up we have a meme from @stra-tek on Tumblr.
Threshold Day (January 29th) was last week so I’ve been seeing a lot of Threshold memes. This one is probably my favorite. I occasionally forget that the salamanders are the ultimate form of human evolution and every time I remember I die a little bit inside. I’m very happy I was born at the time that I was so that I never have to live as a gross salamander.
Next up we have a meme from @robintreks on Instagram.
I have a feeling that the Gowron Euthanasia Clinic would not provide a very peaceful death. Also, this meme implies that Klingons have 12 digit phone numbers instead of 10 digit phone numbers. I wonder how a euthanasia clinic would go over on the Klingon homeworld. Euthanasia is not an “honorable” death but perhaps this clinic allows you to battle to the death against an unbeatable enemy.
Next up is a meme from @tybarious-ii on Tumblr.
So I actually fact checked this meme and it isn’t true. Picard is 59 at the start of TNG and Wil Wheaton is 51. That being said, originally Picard was meant to be a decade younger but given Sir Patrick’s Stewart’s baldness they decided to age the character up. Despite all that, Wil Wheaton is still very close in age to Picard and that is weird. For whatever reason I assumed Wil Wheton was perpetually in his 30s which really makes zero sense since logically I know that would mean he would have been unborn when TNG began filming.
Next up we have a meme from @kaino2001 on tumblr.
I felt as though I needed to include a Data meme for this week considering it was Brent Spiner’s birthday earlier this week (February 2nd). I chose this meme because it references one of my favorite TNG episodes, Phantasms (S7E6). I know this episode is a bit controversial and not everyone likes it but I’m personally a fan of the absurd so I enjoyed its absurdist undertones quite a lot. I also picked this meme because I spend almost every day being silly and I like to imagine this is how I go to bed.
Next up we have a meme submitted by the meme maestro herself, Mala. Mala was actually just featured in our first ever Fandom Friday article. If you would like to read that article you can click here.
I thought this episode of Picard was so cute and I loved getting to see Troi and Riker’s life. Also, the production design for that episode was absolutely gorgeous. I would love to see a Short Trek about the Rikers living in their cabin in the woods.
Next up we have another meme from Mala.
It was just Groundhog Day in the United States. For our readers who aren’t from the US or Canada the holiday is definitely a bit absurd. Every year on February 2nd we send out a groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil. If he sees his shadow we have 6 more weeks of winter and if he doesn’t then Spring will come soon. Groundhog Day, of course, has zero scientific backing; however it’s still a fun holiday. This meme is Punxsutawney Phil explaining what we all know: he is just a groundhog and has no real way to predict the weather. This year, he didn’t see his shadow which means that, hopefully we’ll have an early spring.
Next up we have a meme made by yours truly.
I’m sure this joke has been made many times before, however I wanted to make it. For those of you who don’t know, I sew a lot and this week I had to dissect my sewing machine to fix it. I was making it sew and thus this meme was born.
Ok that’s all I have for you all this week! I’ll see you next week!
